As a therapist, I am relationally oriented. I am interested in deep work, and I like working with people that are emotionally courageous. In my practice I encourage people to open up to their internal world and to turn insight, self reflection and awareness into lasting changes.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s, the height of diet culture. Fad diets, crazy exercise routines and longing for the thin ideal was an everyday experience. From a young age I internalised the idea that my body was wrong, and that the only way to change it to make it “good” was by dieting. After years and years of futile diet attempts, I discovered the body/fat liberation movement, Health at Every Size (HAES®), and the non-diet approach to health and wellbeing. My world turned upside down, a veil was lifted and I could finally see the water (AKA diet culture) I’ve been swimming in all along.
My experience of living in a large body and my own recovery journey from a life-long disordered relationship with food, exercise and my body, fostered the passion I now feel for working with people with similar struggles.
In addition to this, I am super interested in non-ordinary states of consciousness, especially those achieved with psychedelics. A growing body of research is showing the enormous therapeutic value psychedelics can have when using them in the right set and setting. I am excited about the future of psychedelic assisted therapy, both for individuals and for humanity as a whole.
